Besides French, she was fluent in Latin, Greek, English, German, and Italian. Additionally, she excelled in fencing, gymnastics, horseback riding, and had a passion for theater, opera, and playing the harpsichord. Her greatest passion lay in mathematics and physics. She even disguised herself as a man to gain entry into the French Academy, which did not admit women. She made significant contributions in the field of physics and is known for her translation and commentary on the works of Isaac Newton.
