“OASIS BUCKET HAT” – FREE CROCHET PATTERN
They say that in the desert, time changes. Steps become slower, the sun feels heavier, and the horizon seems endless and unchanged. But suddenly, an oasis appears: a small haven of shade and water where everything comes to a pause. It’s not just a place, it’s a breath. And after that moment, the journey begins again with a different sense of calm.

INSPIRATION + DESIGN
This hat is constructed in three sections: crown, body, and brim. Each transition between sections is marked with a round of single crochet worked through the back loop.
It is worked in a spiral, with no visible seams, using single crochet as the main stitch.
The piece begins at the crown, where increases are distributed progressively to form a perfectly circular base. From there, changes in the rate of increases shape the hat, allowing the silhouette to develop naturally.
The design is finished with a round of slip stitches worked through the back loop along the entire edge, adding definition. For a clean, seamless finish, it is completed with an invisible join.
This pattern includes two versions: a regular version in two sizes and a mini version with a step-by-step video tutorial, where you will learn all the techniques used to make the hat.
PATTERN INFORMATION
Stitches & Techniques Used
SLIP STITCH
Insert hook in stitch, yarn over and pull through stitch and loop on hook.
SINGLE CROCHET
Insert hook in stitch, yarn over and pull up loop (2 loops on hook), yarn over and pull through both loops on hook.
INCREASE
Two stitches in the same stitch. Work one stitch as usual, then insert the hook into the same stitch and work another stitch.
INVISIBLE FASTEN OFF
Cut yarn, pull the yarn tail through the last stitch completely and thread yarn tail onto yarn/tapestry needle. Skip one stitch then insert needle into the next stitch under booth loops of the second stitch of the last round. Next, insert needle back into the same stitch that the yarn tail is coming from but into the back loop only. This creates a closing stitch. Weave tail into wrong side before trimming.

Notes
- This hat has a bucket shape, with a brim that falls down and gives it a beautiful, relaxed look. It is worked from top to bottom in spiral rounds, so you will not find any visible seam.
- Do not forget to mark the beginning of each round with a stitch marker to avoid losing your place.
- This pattern is divided into three parts: crown, body, and brim. The transition between sections is worked with one round of single crochet in the back loop only.
- Raffia is a very elastic material, so do not be afraid to handle the piece: stretch it from time to time while working and shape it with your hands.
- Below you will find the mini version, ideal for learning all the techniques with step-by-step video tutorial support. If you prefer, you can go directly to the regular version (available in two sizes) and follow the written pattern, using the video tutorial as a guide for each section of the hat.
