STITCHES AND TECHNIQUES USED


CHAIN (abbrev. ch)
YO and pull through the loop on hook.

SINGLE CROCHET (abbrev. sc)
Insert hook in stitch, YO and pull up loop (2 loops on your hook), YO again and pull through both loops on hook.

CHAIN SPACE (abbrev. ch1sp)
To create a stitch within a chain space, just insert your hook into the space/hole/gap (underneath the chain) to make your stitch.

CROCHETING INTO THE BACK BUMP OF A CHAIN
When you turn your chain, you’ll see a small ‘bump’ on the wrong side of each stitch.



  • ABBREVIATIONS

    • ch = chain
    • ch1sp = chain space
    • sc = single crochet
    • […] = When part of the instructions repeat throughout the “row”, it ́ll be placed between brackets.



START CROCHETING | MOSS STITCH


The stitch is made by alternating single crochet and chains, where the single crochet is worked into the chain space.

  • Turning chains at the beginning of row count as a stitch.
  • Number of rows in pattern repeat : 1
  • Reversible.

To begin: multiple 2 + 2 turning chains

R1 (WS) | 1 sc in 4th ch, [ 1 ch, skip 1 ch, 1 sc in next ch] repeat to end.

R2 | 2 ch, turn, skip first st, 1 sc in ch1sp, [ 1 ch, skip 1 st, 1 sc in ch1sp] repeat to end.

Repeat R2 until desired size is reached.
