STITCHES AND TECHNIQUES USED
SLIP KNOT
With about 15 cm of yarn, make a loop. Insert your hook through the center of the loop, draw the end of the yarn through the loop, and pull on the tail to tighten.
CHAIN (abbrev. ch)
YO and pull through the loop on hook.
SLIP STITCH (abbrev. sl st)
Insert hook in stitch, YO and pull through stitch and loop on hook.
SINGLE CROCHET (abbrev. sc)
Insert hook in stitch, YO and pull up loop (2 loops on hook), YO again and pull through both loops on hook.
THROUGH FRONT LOOP (abbrev. tfl)
The front loop is the loop closest to you.
THROUGH BACK LOOP (abbrev. tbl)
The back loop is furthest away from you.
CROCHETING INTO THE BACK BUMP OF A CHAIN

START CROCHETING |
With 4.00 mm (G US) crochet hook.
TO BEGIN: 16 chains + 1 turning chain.
ROW 01. Starting in 2nd chain through back bumps, single crochet to end.
ROW 02. 1 chain, turn, insert hook through back loop of first single crochet and unworked front loop of initial chain, YO and pull through both loops (2 loops on hook), YO again and pull through both loops on hook. Repeat in each stitch to end.
ROW 03|16. 1 chain, turn, insert hook through back loop of first single crochet and unworked loop of row below, YO and pull through both loops (2 loops on hook), YO again and pull through both loops on hook. Repeat in each stitch to end.
ROW 17. 1 chain, turn, insert hook through both loops of first single crochet and unworked back loop of row below, YO and pull through 2 loops (2 loops on hook), YO again and pull through both loops on hook. Repeat in each stitch to end.
Be careful not to skip the very last stitch in each row, it can be tricky to find.
FINISHED
Weave in all the ends except for the one from the crochet hook.
Using a 3.5 mm (E US) crochet hook, place the pieces with the wrong side facing each other. Using the loop on the hook, join both pieces with single crochet stitches along 3 edges of the card holder.
Starting at the top left corner, work as follows: 10 single crochet stitches along the first short edge, then 2 single crochet stitches in the corner, 14 single crochet stitches along the long edge, 2 single crochet stitches in the corner, 10 single crochet stitches along the second short edge.
Cut the yarn and weave in the end.
