The lemon peel crochet stitch is one of the most popular and easiest crochet stitches to learn. It is worked by alternating single crochet and double crochet stitches, creating a distinctive textured surface that resembles the bumpy skin of a lemon. This crochet stitch is reversible, simple, and perfect for beginners, but it is also appreciated by more experienced crocheters for the texture it adds to the fabric. It is ideal for blankets, scarves, cowls, shawls, and many other crochet projects.
In this tutorial, you will learn how to crochet the lemon peel stitch step by step, with written instructions and a video so you can easily follow along. In addition, if you’d like to further improve the finish of your fabric, in the video tutorial we will cover two simple techniques that will help you achieve straighter edges and a more elastic, well-integrated starting chain.

Improve the Finish of This Stitch
If you’d like to improve the finish of this stitch, in the video tutorial I show you two simple tricks that make a big difference. One of them helps keep the edges of the fabric completely straight, while the other is applied to the foundation chain, which we will work in a different way so that it blends more naturally into the fabric and has a little more stretch.
