STITCHES AND TECHNIQUES USED

SLIP KNOT
With about 15 cm of yarn, make a loop. Insert your hook through the center of the loop, draw the end of the yarn through the loop, and pull on the tail to tighten.

CHAIN (abbrev. ch)
YO and pull through the loop on hook.

SINGLE CROCHET (abbrev. sc)
Insert hook in stitch, YO and pull up loop (2 loops on hook), YO again and pull through both loops on hook.

FRONT SIDE LOOP STITCH
Wrap yarn around thumb and bring it to the front of work, keeping finger at the desired length for loop. Without releasing thumb in loop, push loop to the right, insert hook in stitch and make a regular single crochet. Then, release loop off your thumb.

CROCHETING INTO THE BACK BUMP OF A CHAIN
When you turn your chain, you’ll see a small ‘bump’ on the wrong side of each stitch.

FRONT SIDE LOOP STITCH

Front Side Loop Stitch is similar to the loop stitch except it is made on the right side of your work using your thumb to create the loops.
