21 Feb I-Cord Crochet
Crochet iCord is a simple technique that allows you to create cords with a finish surprisingly similar to those made with knitting needles.
They’re especially useful for summer projects, when you need lightweight straps, decorative ties, or that small detail that brings a piece together.
In this tutorial, I show you how to make them starting with 2 or 3 chains, so you can adjust the thickness to suit your idea. And if you’re looking for a chunkier cord, you can always increase the number of stitches or use a thicker yarn to achieve the effect you want.

STEP BY STEP PATTERN
Pattern I-cord 2 chains
TO BEGIN | make 3 chains.
STEP 01 | insert hook in 2nd ch from hook, yarn over and pull up loop (2 loops on hook), insert hook in next ch, yarn over and pull up loop (3 loops on hook).
STEP 02 | Remove first two loops on hook, yarn over and pull up loop, insert hook in next loop, yarn over and pull up loop, insert hook into next loop, yarn over and pull up loop (3 loops on hook).
Repeat step 02 until you reach the desired length.
Shape the cord with your fingers and you’ll see how it takes on a nice round design.
TO FINISH | close all the loops. Remove all of them leaving only the last two, and pass the first one through the second. Continue picking up loop by loop and pass the first one through the second until you finish with all of them.
