CROCHETING INTO THE BACK BUMP OF A CHAIN
When you turn your chain, you’ll see a small ‘bump’ on the wrong side of each stitch.

START CROCHETING |

  • Turning chain at the beginning of row does not count as a stitch.

  • Number of rows in pattern repeat : 2

TO BEGIN | any number of chains + 1 turning chain.

R1 | starting in second ch through back bumps, 1 sc, insert hook into left leg of sc just made and through back bumps of next ch and pull up a loop, YO and pull through all three loops on hook, [insert hook into left leg of hsc just made and through back bumps of next ch and pull up a loop, YO and pull through all three loops on hook] repeat to end.

R2 | 1 ch, turn, 1 slst-tbl to last st, 1 slst in last st.

R3 | 1 ch, turn, 1 sc in first ch, insert hook into left leg of sc just made and through next st and pull up a loop, YO and pull through all three loops on hook, [insert hook into left leg of hsc just made and through next st and pull up a loop, YO and pull through all three loops on hook] repeat to end.

Repeat R2 and R3 until you reach desired size.

TIP

In the last stitch of each row of slip stitches, you can insert the hook through the back loop and the turning chain, or through both loops. This will help you achieve a cleaner and more even edge in your project.
