“EROS BOW” – CROCHET PATTERN BY HILARIA FINA
También disponible en: Español
AQUÍThe idea of the bow as a symbol of eternal union. Eros, with its continuous and endless form, is more than just woven threads, evoking the idea of a bond that transcends time and lasts forever.
INSPIRATION + DESIGN
What will you find in this pattern? Written instructions, a chart (included exclusively in the downloadable PDF edition), and two video tutorials. You will learn the trick to make the bow look spectacular.
This lovely bow is crocheted from side to side, allowing you to adjust its length by varying the number of starting chains. To achieve the pointed ends, we will use the short rows technique, crocheting 6 rows and skipping the last stitch in each of them. Then, in the following 6 rows, we will increase one stitch in each, adding a chain at the end of each row. Simple, right?

CROCHETING INTO THE BACK BUMP OF A CHAIN
Usually you crochet in the right side of the chain. When you turn your chain, you’ll see a small ‘bump’ on the wrong side of each stitch.
TECHNIQUES USED
STARTING CHAIN ⇒ VIDEO
Both the starting chain and those made in rows 8 to 13 are crocheted differently than usual to achieve greater elasticity and uniformity in the fabric.
TURNING CHAINS
Keep in mind that the turning chain must be crocheted before turning the work, so that it has optimal tension and the edge remains uniform.
Always turn the work in the same direction.
SLIP STITCH
Tension is crucial when crocheting slip stitches. If you tend to tighten too much, you can split the slip stitch into two steps. Before closing the stitch, gently pull the loop upward so that the stitch is a bit higher, as if you were making a single crochet instead of a slip stitch.
Remember that slip stitches tend to slant. When working on them, the back loop slightly falls to the back of the row.
LAST STITCH OF ALL ROWS
It is always crocheted through both loops, so that the ends of the bow remain tight and without gaps.
