STITCHES AND TECHNIQUES USED
CHAIN (abbrev. ch)
YO and pull through the loop on hook.
SINGLE CROCHET (abbrev. sc)
Insert hook in stitch, YO and pull up loop (2 loops on your hook), YO again and pull through both loops on hook.
DOUBLE CROCHET (abbrev. dc)
YO, insert hook in stitch, YO and pull up loop (3 loops on hook), YO and pull through the first 2 loops on hook (2 loops on hook), YO again and pull through the remaining 2 loops on hook.
CROCHETING INTO THE BACK BUMP OF A CHAIN
When you turn your chain, you’ll see a small ‘bump’ on the wrong side of each stitch.
CHAIN SPACE (abbrev. ch-space)
To work a stitch into a chain space, simply insert your hook into the gap underneath the chain and make your stitch there.
START CROCHETING |
Number of rows in pattern repeat : 2
TO BEGIN | multiple 4 + 1 + 1 turning chain.
R1 | Starting in the 2nd ch from the hook, working into the back bumps: 1 sc, [ch 5, sk 3 ch, 1 sc in next ch] repeat to last ch.
R2 | ch 5, turn, 1 sc in ch-5 space, [ch 5, 1 sc in ch-5 space] repeat to last ch-5 space, ch 2, 1 dc in last sc.
R3 | ch 1, turn, 1 sc in first st, [ch 5, 1 sc in ch-5 space,] repeat to last ch-5 space.
Repeat R2 and R3 until reaching the desired size.
