AQUÍMEDITATIVE CROCHET | ZEN CROCHET WITH FLOWERS
Meditative crochet is a way to connect with yourself through yarn and mindfulness. Stitch by stitch, this practice invites you to breathe, to feel the thread between your fingers, and to enjoy the steady rhythm of creating with calm and intention.
In this weekly crochet flower challenge, I invite you to a different kind of experience: let each flower bloom in your hands while you cultivate patience, presence, and the beauty of the moment.
Week by week, we’ll crochet flowers in different colors and textures to create a meaningful, multicolored wall hanging. We’ll assemble all the flowers on an embroidery hoop, forming a piece that not only decorates your space but also becomes a visual sanctuary—something to look at when you need to reconnect, reflect, and return to the peace you felt while making it.
All you need is a quiet corner, your hook, your yarn… and a true desire to crochet from the heart. Each week, a new pattern will be released, designed to help you enjoy the process at your own pace.
✨ Will you join the challenge?
First of all, we’ll build our decorative hoop, which will serve as the base for the final wall hanging. For this, you’ll need a few basic materials listed below.
From there, each week you’ll find a new link to crochet a different flower — all with simple patterns designed to be enjoyed slowly and mindfully.
Step by step, flower by flower… until you complete your very own meditative crochet artwork! ✨
STEP BY STEP PATTERN
Materials
- Round embroidery hoop, approximately 12 cm (5 inches) in diameter
- Panama fabric (approximately 20 cm / 8 inches in diameter) to cover the hoop
- Cardboard circle 1 mm smaller than the hoop (for the back closure)
- Tapestry needle and sewing needle
- Sewing thread
- Colored yarns for the flowers: Drops You 7 Uni Colour and Drops Safran
- 2.5 mm crochet hook
Embroidery hoop
- Prepare the cardboard Mark the inner ring of the hoop onto the cardboard. Cut a circle approximately 1 mm smaller than the inner ring so that it fits snugly.
- Cut the fabric
Cut a circle approximately 20 cm in diameter.
Place the fabric - Center the fabric over the hoop, place the outer ring, and tighten the screw until the fabric is taut and wrinkle-free.
- Gather the back of the fabric
Sew a running stitch around the edge. When you reach the starting point, pull both ends of the thread to gather the fabric. Fold the edge toward the center and tie the thread ends in a double knot. - Place the cardboard on the back
Insert the cardboard circle into the back of the hoop, pressing it against the gathered fabric. This helps hold everything firmly in place and gives a clean finish on the back.
Notes
Leave the cardboard as is, or cover it with a felt circle 1 mm smaller. Attach it with a few drops of fabric glue or sew it using a blanket stitch.
