STITCHES AND TECHNIQUES USED


CHAIN (abbrev. ch)
YO and pull through the loop on hook.

SLIP STITCH (abbrev. sl st)
Insert hook in stitch, YO and pull through stitch and loop on hook.

HALF DOUBLE CROCHET (abbrev. hdc)
YO, insert hook in stitch, YO and pull up loop (3 loops on hook), YO and pull through all 3 loops on the hook.

LONG HALF DOUBLE CROCHET STITCH (abbrev. long hdc)
YO, insert hook between indicated two stitches 2 rows below, yarn under and pull up loop to height of previous stitch (3 loops on hook), YO and pull through all 3 loops on the hook.

CROCHETING INTO THE BACK BUMP OF A CHAIN
When you turn your chain, you’ll see a small ‘bump’ on the wrong side of each stitch.



  • ABBREVIATIONS

    • ch = chain
    • slst = slip stitch
    • hdc = half double crochet
    • long hdc = long half double crochet

START CROCHETING | CORN STITCH


Turning chain at the beginning of row does not count as a stitch.

Number of rows in pattern repeat : 2

TO BEGIN: slip knot and chain any number of chains + 1 turning chain

ROW 01. Starting in 2nd ch through back bumps, hdc to end. 

ROW 02. ch, turn, slst to end.

ROW 03. ch, turn, long hdc in space between the chain one and first hdc st 2 rows below.

Keep crocheting long hdc between hdc 2 rows down to end.

Repeat rows 02 & 03 until desired height is reached.
