LEVEL
SKILL 2 – EASY
Projects using yarn with basic stitches, repetitive stitch patterns, simple colour changes, and simple shaping and finishing.
Now that you’ve mastered basic crochet stitches you can finish simple crochet items and start shaping them with basic increase and decrease stitches. You know how to change a colour and how to attach a new ball of yarn. Since basic crochet stitches are not a problem anymore you can put them together in repetitive patterns making beautiful fibre textures.
Projects: more detailed amigurumis, scarfs, hats.
WHAT YOU NEED
- Crochet hook 4.00 mm (G US) and 3.25 mm (D US)
- Needle yarn
- Scissors
- Yarn: light worsted.
Sample has been made with a yarn I had at home but you can use cotton KATIA CAPRI as a perfect option with a large colour card to make your crochet bows. It is a mercerized cotton recommended for 2.00 mm hook or 100 % COTTON KATIA recommended for 2.5 – 3.00 mm. Bows size will be smaller but perfect to make a garland, decorate a present box or whatever you can imagine. You can use KATIA BRISA for the bow detail, it is a mercerized cotton with 40% viscose that will give a shining touch to your applique.
SIZE
- Using light worsted weight yarn, finished item will be approx. 5.5 cm x 5.5 cm.
- Choose a different yarn weight with the corresponding crochet hook size to make a bigger or smaller version.

NOTES
- This pattern is written in US terminology.
- When you crochet in closed rounds, you will close each round with a slip stitch into the first stitch of the round. The next round starts with one or more initial chain stitches (know as the “turning chains”) to get the right height for the following stitches and follows the same direction as the previous round.

EMBROIDERY
We will use surface stitch for bow’s center detail. This technique it’ll be done using slip stitch through the magic ring previously crocheted.
SURFACE SLIP STITCH
With a contrast color and using the 3.25 mm hook, insert your hook front to back. Place a slip knot onto your hook and pull through your work. Then insert hook again front to back in the next stitch of the round. YO and pull through the work (two loops on hook). Pull second loop through the first one. Repeat for every stitch until finishing the magic ring.
To finish the piece, thread the needle and insert it under booth loops of the FIRST STITCH of the round, front to back. Then, pass it through the center of the last stitch of the round.
Cut the yarn and weave in all ends.
