Are you a fan of textured stitches? Then you’ll be fascinated by the berry stitch. It’s ideal as an edging on blankets, pot holders, or garments.

STITCHES AND TECHNIQUES USED


SLIP STITCH (abbrev. sl st)
Insert hook in stitch, YO and pull through stitch and loop on hook.

BERRY STITCH
YO and insert hook in stitch, YO and pull up loop (3 loops on hook), YO and pull through 1st loop (3 loops on hook), YO and insert hook in same stitch, YO and pull up loop (5 loops on hook), YO and pull through all 5 loops on hook.

START CROCHETING |


NOTES

This edge is worked on its wrong side.

The base stitch used is rib stitch | multiple of 2 + 1.

TO BEGIN | place a slip knot on hook.

STEP 01 | 1 slst in first stitch.

STEP 02 | yo, insert hook in next st, yo and pull up loop (3 loops on hook).

STEP 03 | yo and pull through 1st loop (3 loops on hook).

STEP 04 | yo, insert hook into same st, yo and pull through stitch (5 loops on hook).

STEP 05 | yo and pull yarn through all 5 loops.

STEP 06 | 1slst in next st.

Continue alternating between a berry stitch and a slip stitch until the end of the row

If your berries are too close to each other, work more slip stitches between each berry, instead of just one.
