“AMARINDA TABLE SET ” – CROCHET PATTERN BY HILARIA FINA

AQUÍTroubled waves stick to the manes
of the rough horses of the winds;
illuminated by reddish glows,
when in mountains anvil its hammer beats the thunder.
The swans walk – Ricardo Jaimes Freyre

INSPIRATION + DESIGN
What do you think about dressing your table up with a placemat and coaster set inspired by the sea waves painted in autumn colors?
Making the design is a three-step process: first step is to make a grid base, second step is to crochet the chains and third step is to woven the chains in two directions: right to left and bottom-up through the grid to create the geometric effect.

STITCHES AND TECHNIQUES USED
CHAIN (ABBREVIATION ch)
YO and pull through loop on hook.
DOUBLE CROCHET (ABBREVIATION: dc)
YO, insert hook into the stitch, YO and pull the yarn through the stitch (3 loops on your hook), YO and pull through the first 2 loops on the hook in one go (2 loops remain on the hook), YO again and pull through the remaining 2 loops on the hook.
CROCHETING INTO THE BACK BUMP OF A CHAIN
Usually you crochet in the right side of the chain. When you turn your chain, you’ll see a small ‘bump’ on the wrong side of each stitch. Insert your hook under this back bump.

LION BRAND 24/7
To create Amarinda we have chosen the 24/7 Cotton Lion Brand. This yarn is a worsted weight, mercerized 100% natural fibber yarn. Perfect for making home decoration and has an incredible colour and sheen due to mercerization process. It is a chainette style yarn, firm and strength but smooth at the same time. Chainette yarns offer excellent stitch definition, you’ll have a lighter item, with less stress. Products will hold up to use and, because the fibers have already been “knit” into a tube which keeps them in place, chainette yarns prevent pilling. Just perfect for this beautiful table set of placemat and coasters capable to handle heavy use and wash with no problem
SIZE
- All measurements given are unblocked:
Coaster 11 cm x 11 cm approx.
